The lobby loads on a lake
Jason stomps across the Crystal Lake dock, your squad splits to three gens, and the ESP already marks the Dwight hiding in the boathouse. Dead by Daylight is a 4v1 horror match where one side hunts and the other repairs generators and runs, and almost every round is decided by who knows where the other side is. A cheat here gives you that information first and a cleaner hit second. A survivor who finishes a gen without being seen wins the round before the chase even starts, and a killer who walks straight to the repair that is about to pop wins it back.
Chapters move the meta
Behaviour Interactive ships a chapter every few months, and each brings a killer, a survivor and sometimes a map. Chapter 40 added Jason in June, Chorus of Sin followed in August, and October brings Unknown Rift, the Haunted by Daylight Halloween event and the Diablo 4 crossover. After a patch some builds switch to "updating" for hours or days. Don't buy a 30-day key the week a chapter drops. Wait for "working" and buy then.
Where a cheat decides the round
Crystal Lake, Jason. He crosses the water with his lunge and the survivors scatter. ESP shows the gen they are all rushing and the one nobody touches, so you walk to the right one instead of patrolling the dock while two other gens finish behind you.
Haddonfield, Michael Myers. A hedge-lined street, a closet you didn't check and a Dwight who went quiet. ESP draws survivors through the houses, and the radar shows who is crouched behind the Myers house, so you stop opening every locker on the street.
Red Forest, Huntress. A hatchet has to leave your hand at range, in the dark between the trees. Aim leads the throw, so a fleeing Nea gets hit at the edge of the fog, instead of sailing past her into a tree.
Decimated Borgo, Vecna. The map is a maze of ruined buildings and your spells need a line. Hooks and totems in ESP tell you where the next hook is and which dull totem still stands, which matters when the last hex is the only thing slowing the survivors down.
Killer or survivor
As a killer you want aim for the swing and the radar to find survivors split across the map. As a survivor you want ESP on the killer and on gens, so in a squad you see the chase before you are in it. The roster of 45+ killers and 45+ survivors is covered, and the filter above the list narrows builds by feature, status or a single option such as the radar or streamproof.
Dead by Daylight against other horror games
In a battle royale a missed shot costs you a ranking. In Dead by Daylight it costs a hook, a generator and sometimes the whole match for your side. That changes what to pay for: the features that matter here tell you where everyone stands, not how to tame recoil. A good map read beats a perfect swing, and a perfect swing at the wrong survivor still leaves three gens running.
