Why people cheat in Dune: Awakening
Dune: Awakening is an open-world survival MMO from Funcom, the studio behind Conan Exiles. Arrakis is a huge sandbox where 60 to 80 players share a server, and distances are long. Dunes give no cover, so a target at range is a small shape in heat haze, which is where bone aim with smoothing earns its keep. ESP covers the other half of the problem: dozens of players, spice fields, loot and sandworm trouble, all spread across a map you cannot scan by eye. In Deep Desert PvP, where bases get raided, knowing who is where decides whether you walk out with loot or respawn at the edge of the map.
BattlEye, bans and the October 2026 change
The game runs a kernel-level BattlEye on official multiplayer servers. Patch 1.5.3 from 6 October 2026 made BattlEye optional for single-player and for private or self-hosted servers, but on official multiplayer it is still mandatory. A ban there is tied to your hardware, so a new account on the same PC does not help. Three of the four builds ship with a spoofer for exactly that case, and each listing shows its current status and the date of the last check.
Four places where the tools matter
Hagga Basin shrine. The starter region is PvE, so the danger is the terrain and the sandworms. ESP shows spice, loot and other players around the shrine before you commit to the climb.
Deep Desert outpost. PvP with high-tier loot and open-world base raids. Full aim, skeleton ESP and the radar on PUSSYCAT tell you how many defenders sit inside and from which side they will shoot.
Shieldwall peak. A long, exposed climb where anyone above you has the angle. Distance readouts and bone aim let you answer a sniper on the ridge instead of running back down the slope.
Dusk Spire mine. Tight underground passages where fights start at a few meters. Loot ESP finds the useful crates, and visibility-checked aim keeps you off targets behind rock.
Picking a build for how you play
For PvE in Hagga Basin you need very little: light aim and ESP are enough. Deep Desert PvP calls for the full set of aim, ESP and radar, and PUSSYCAT is the only build with a radar. If you stream, take SHACK, which has streamproof and an excellent rating. On a private server where BattlEye is switched off, any of the four will do, so choose by feature list and Windows version. Check your edition first: PUSSYCAT needs Windows PRO, and PUSSYCAT and SMG do not run on 24H2.
How Dune: Awakening differs from other survival games
Compared with Conan Exiles, the scale is different: an MMO with 60 to 80 players on one server instead of a small group. Rust is also about base raids, but Arrakis adds sand and sandworms that punish anyone standing still on the dunes. DayZ is built around zombies and scarce supplies, while Dune takes its setting from Herbert's novels and turns water and spice into the economy. Ark has dinosaurs where Dune has worms that you cannot fight. Chapter 2 "The Lost Harvest", Chapter 3 and the Chapter 4 "The Water Wars" DLC keep adding content, so builds are rechecked after major updates.
